REPUBLIC (Stanley, Clark County, Wis.) 03/19/1914 Starling, Thomas
(7 Apr 1846 - 13 Mar 1914) Thomas Starling
died at his home at Blair, Wis., on Friday last of pneumonia. Mr.
Starling was born in Somerset Co., Maine, on April 7, 1846, and
came with his parents to Black River Falls in 1853. Here he
attended school and grew to manhood. He followed the vocation of a
woodsman for many years, and in 1882 became manager of a large
sawmill located three miles east of Stanley, Clark County, Wis.,
purchasing the same in 1888, with W. A. Rust as partner in the
business. After operating the mill successfully for several years
he sold out and moved to Portland, Oregon, remaining but a few
months, and returned here and operated a farm for many years. Four
years ago he sold the farm and moved to Blair, which has been his
home since. The body was taken to Eau Claire on Monday, the funeral
taking place on Tuesday. He leaves a wife and two children, Mrs. P.
