55th Anniversary
Last Friday was the fifty fifth wedding anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Fowler, and they were busy at their home in this village that afternoon and evening receiving the congratulations of their many friends. Mr. Fowler recalls that the wedding day was cold, 20 below zero that morning, and January had covered the earth with a mantle of snow said to have been forty-two inches on the level. Another snow storm a couple days before the happy event and a strong wind added to the difficulties of the minister and wedding party going places. In fact, it was almost impossible to get anywhere. Highways were abandoned and the bobsleighs were driven through the fields and anywhere that a road could be made. But when folks are young and there is to be a wedding, a heap of difficulties can be overcome. Mr. and Mrs. Fowler enjoyed this last anniversary greatly. One of the surprises was a fine wedding cake produced as if by magic, and other dainties were added. A host of friends are hoping that there may be many more wedding anniversaries for them.
