Carskaden, George (24 Jan. 1843 - 5 May 1922)
George Carskaden, one of the oldest residents of his locality, died at his home in the town of Seif, on Friday, May 5. He was born in the state of New York, Jan. 24, 1843. Later he came to Waterloo, Wis., where he lived for sometime, moved to Mauston and about 40 years ago he came to Neillsville and has lived in this vicinity ever since. In his early manhood he took up the practice of veterinary and followed it all the rest of his life until he was too old to do the work. He was married first to Mary Olmstead who died at Mauston. After coming to Neillsville he was married to Miss Caroline Johnson, who survives him. Two children of the first marriage are living , Mrs. Herman Yankee, and William Carskaden of Neillsville; of the second family there are living Orson of Neillsville, James of the town of Weston, Herbert Carskaden and Mrs. E. Fuller of St. Paul and Mrs. Will Dux of Seif, also a sister, Mrs. Jacob P. Fox, of Waterloo, Wis.
The funeral was held at the Orson Carskaden home Monday, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.
