Fitz, Lilly ( Marriage - 5 June 1922)

The Sara Community hall was the scene of the pretty wedding at high noon Monday when the ceremony uniting Miss Lilly Fitz and Oren Hanks, both of Sara, in marriage, was performed. The ceremony was performed by Elder F. H. Conway of Vancouver in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends of the couple. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Hallie Fitz, and was given away by her father. Ernest Kreigger of Vancouver, was the best man. As the bride entered the auditorium her pathway was strewn with rose petals by the little flower girl, who was her little sister. Mrs. F. H. Conway of Vancouver played the wedding march.

Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents to a large number of invited guests. Later in the afternoon the young couple left on a honeymoon. They will be at home to their many friends at their new home near Ridgefield in about two weeks.

The bride was charming in a gown of hand embroidered white silk over which hung a silk tulle veil which was caught in place by white rose buds. She carried a shower bouquet of white rose buds and carnations.

Mrs. Hanke is the popular daughter of Colonel and Mrs. C. Fitz of Sara. She is a graduate of the Ridgefield high school. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hanks, living near Ridgefield. He is a prosperous farmer of this vicinity. The large auditorium where they wedding took place was artistically decorated with roses, carnations and ferns. During the ceremony the young couple stood under a large arch made of the blooms. *June 7, 1922 was a Wednesday.
