Litka, Ernestine (5 OCT 1851 - 12 OCT 1921)

It has pleased God our Heavenly Father to remove from our midst Mrs. Ernestine Litka, nee Arndt. She was born October 5, 1851, in Muehlor, near Strassburg, in Brandenburg, Germany.  She was baptized soon after her birth and later instructed in God's Word and confirmed.  On October 12, 1873 she was married to William Litka. Eight children were born to them, of which two were called away before the mother.

In 1881 they came to America ands settled on a farm near Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.).  About 8 years ago they moved to the village.

She had been in poor health for a long time, and on last Wednesday, October 12, the anniversary of their wedding day, she departed this world at the age of 70 years, 7 days.

She is survived by her husband, William Litka; two sons, Will of Loyal, Herman of Beaver; four daughters, Mrs. Bertha Pickrun of Greenwood, Mrs. Anna Stowe of Beaver, Mrs. Ella Philpott of Loyal, and Mrs. Amelia Lydickson of Unity; one sister and thirteen grandchildren.

The deceased was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church.  She was remarkably active in body and bright in mind, and found time in her busy life to perform services of kindness to a great many people, who will long remember her kindly ways and her loving nature.

The funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon, Rev. Kemena and Rev. Matter officiating.  She was laid to rest in the Union (Lutheran) Cemetery.
