Beaver, Mr./Mrs. John (17 JUL 1922)

On last week Monday, July 17th, 1922, the catholic Church was the scene of a very pretty golden wedding, when Mr. and Mrs. John Beaver of this village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.), encircled the altar, by their family, renewed the bonds of matrimony in memory of their fiftieth year of wedded life.

The services opened with a wedding High Mass, at nine o'clock, Rev. Joseph Stenz officiating.

After the services they proceeded to the old home farm, where among the gathering of a large number of relatives and friends, a fine dinner was served.

Mr. Beaver was born in Germany, Dec. 13, 1850 and came to this country at the age of 12 years, and arrived at Jefferson, Wis., in 1863. In 1872 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Domini, to which 19 children were born, 7 daughters and 12 sons, of which 4 daughters and 10 sons are still surviving. They are: Mrs. Frank Bauer, Mrs. Joseph Wedl, Mike, Nick, William, Frank, Edd, Phillip, Pete Bernard and Matt of Loyal, George of Granton, Mrs. Mike Duvall of Marshfield and Mrs. Peter Schmitz of Orcutt, Calif., of which all were present at the anniversary of the wedding. They are also the grandparents of 41 children, and great-grandparents of 4 children.

Mr. and Mrs. John Beaver came to Clark County in 1880, 42 years ago, and settled down in the wilderness three and one-half miles southeast of this village, where they have lived until 4 years ago, when the farm was purchased by two of their sons, Nick and Edd. Mr. and Mrs. Beaver have settled down in this village. Owing to the hard work of Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, and the help of their family, they have succeeded in improving which is now one of the finest farms in Clark County.

The worthy couple was awarded many valuable presents in gold, and owing to the fine weather everybody enjoyed themselves, both young and old, in playing games and dancing until a late hour, when all departed wishing Mr. and Mrs. Beaver many more years of health and happiness.

All of those present at the anniversary from out of Loyal were: Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schmid, Orcutt, Calif., Miss Regina Beaver, Mrs. Leak, Mrs. Beaver, Sr., George Beaver, Sr., and Mr. Oscar Savage, all of Milwaukee, Mrs. John Paulees and Mrs. Elsie Waters and daughters of Chicago, Mr. Betzold of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. People, Mr. and Mrs. John Hass and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Duvall of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. George Beaver and children of Granton.
