Wren, Sarah (1857 - 12 Aug. 1922)
Mrs. Sarah Wren, one of the old residents of this locality, died at the Asylum of the Blind at Janesville, Aug. 12, age 65 years. On Aug. 5 she fell and broke her arm and pneumonia set in.
Deceased was born at Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and came to Clark County at an early age, her maiden name being Sarah West. She was first married to Orlin Smith, who died. Later she was married to Sereno Wren. A few years ago she met with two severe accidents, and as a result of them her eyesight failed and she became entirely blind. A few months ago she went to the school for the Blind at Janesville, expecting to learn to read by the blind method, although advanced in years.
She was a woman of a vigorous type of mind, and for many years looked after her own work and business with much energy.
She leaves one daughter, Mrs. G. F. Smith, of La Crosse, and a little grandson, Clifford Locks. She leaves also one brother, George West, of the town of Grant.
Mr and Mrs. G. F. Smith of La Crosse arrived with the remains from Janesville Tuesday and the funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the M. E. Church, Rev. W. T. Scott officiating.
