Polnaszek, Richard P. (15 January 1929-17 March 1975)
Richard P. Polnaszek, 46, owner and operator of the Polnaszek Funeral Home in Abbotsford, died Monday in a Marshfield hospital.
Services will be held Friday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Abbotsford. The Rev. Emil Hodnik will officiate and burial will be in the Abbotsford Cemetery. Friends May call at Polnasek Funeral Home, Abbotsford.
Mr. Polnaszek was born January 15, 1929, in Thorp. son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Polnaszek, Thorp. On April 26, 1954, in Stanley, married Frances Pozdell, who also survives. He received his education in Thorp schools and the former Superior College. In 1953 Mr. Polnasek graduated from Milwaukee School of Mortuary Science and was employed at Thorp Funeral Home until 1959. He had operated the funeral home in Abbotsford since 1968.
Mr. Polnaszek was a past president of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce and was a recipient of that organization's outstanding citizen's award. He served on the board of education in Abbotsford in 1955 and 1966, and he was active in Boy Scouts, serving as a committee member and treasurer for the group. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club, and a past president of the Wisconsin Valley Funeral Directors Association.
Survivors, besides his wife and parents, include , George, Mequon, Ellen, all at home; three brothers, George, Mequon, Edward, Thorp, and William, Union Grove; and a sister, Mrs. Rick Johnson, Texas.
