NEILLSVILLE PRESS (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 09/13/1923 Evans, Esther
(1838 - 30 Augl 1923) Mrs. Esther Evans
died August 30, 1923 at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs.
George Evans, in the town of Pine Valley, Clark County, Wis., aged
85 years. She was born in Connecticut in 1838, her maiden name
being Ester Ann Gregory. She was married to Edward Evans in 1860
and lived in Canada a few years, then moved to Mackford, Wis. Her
husband died in 1893. About seven years ago she came here to live
with her son, George Evans, and remained at this home until her
death. For the past two years she was an invalid, being confined to
her bed most of the time for the past four months. Of the eight
children born to her and her husband, only three survive: Emily
Evans of Flandreau, S.D.; John Evans, Whitewood, S.D., and R. C.
Evans, Pontiac, Ill. She leaves 14 grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren. Owing to her age
and feeble health, she made but few acquaintances here, but all who
met her, felt that in the days of her health and strength she was a
woman of superior qualities. The remains were
taken to Mackford for burial beside her husband, and were
accompanied there by Mrs. Geo. Evans and daughter, Mrs. Louis
Hantke. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
