NEILLSVILLE PRESS (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 12/06/1923 Noel, Agnes (3 AUG
1850 - 1 Dec 1923) Mrs. Matthew Noel,
one of the old residents of Pine Valley, Clark County, Wis., died
at her home Saturday, Dec. 1, 1923, after a lingering illness of
several months. Mrs. Noel, who maiden name was Agnes Shangley, was
born in Indiana Aug. 3, 1850. She came to Neillsville with her
parents when quite young and in 1869 was married in Neillsville to
Matthew Noel. They went to live on their farm southeast of the
city, which has been her home ever since. Mr. Noel died July 17,
1904. Both Mr. and Mrs.
Noel were very industrious people, developing a good farm and home.
To them 12 children were born. Those now living are William Noel of
Hot Springs, S. D.; Matthew Noel; Albert Noel, Richland Center;
George Noel, Perryville, Ill.; Mrs. Alice Eckerman, Casenovia,
Wis.; John Noel, Madison. Those deceased are Mary, Margaret,
Leonard, Lizzie, Carl and Sadie. Mrs. Noel leaves
also 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was a kind and
faithful wife and mother and a good neighbor. In early life she was
connected with the Methodist Church. The funeral is held this
Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, at the M. E. Church, Rev. Wm. Walder
