NEILLSVILLE PRESS (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 01/31/1924 Plummer, John (11
MAR 1844 - 23 Jan 1924) John Plumer, one
of the oldest resident of this city (Neillsville, Clark County,
Wis.), died suddenly at his home in the third ward, Monday, Jan.
28, 1924. He had been in his usual health and was able to be about
and attend to his usual work about the place. In the early morning
hours his wife was aroused by his apparent distress and in a few
moments he had passed away as he slept. John Plumer was
born in Germany March 11, 1844, and would therefore have been 80
years old had he lived til the coming March. He came to America in
1868, and on Oct. 13, 1872, he was married at Black River Falls to
Lizzie Webber, who survive him. For a time they lived on a farm
near Hixton, Wis.. Later they moved to Clark County, Wis., settling
on a farm in the town of York. About 10 years ago they moved to
Neillsville, which has been their home since. Mr. Plumer was a
very industrious man, an excellent farmer, honest and upright in
all his dealing, and respected by all who knew him. He had a
cordial greeting for all his friends and was a most pleasant man to
meet and visit with. Besides his wife he leaves three sons and
three daughters to mourn his death: Mrs. Mary Lennie of Eau Claire;
Louis Plumer, Reader, S. D.; Mrs. Emma Galster, Alma Center; Mrs.
Mart La Stofka, Neillsville; Frank Plumer, Vesper, Wis.; and
William Plumer, Supt. Of Clark County Poor Farm. The funeral will
be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Congregational Church, Rev.
Longenecker officiating. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
