Smail, Thomas (1871? - 9 May 1923)
Thomas Smail of Merrillan, well known to travelers on the Omaha line, died at his home in that village May 9, aged 52 years. Mr. Smail began work on the Neillsville branch of the Omaha line as brakeman and baggage man 42 years ago when the line was first built. After working at that for some time he became local baggage man at Merrillan, a position which he filled until last December when failing health compelled him to give up his work. He was a most conscientious and accommodating man and well liked by the traveling public, and the railroad employees and officials.
He was married Dec. 24, 1894 to Anna Crago of Merrillan, who with one son, survives him.
