Eilert, Delia (4 Jan. 1847 - 29 May 1923)

Mrs. Ernest Eilert, formerly a well-known resident of Neillsville, died at her home in Fresno, Calif., May 29, a week after having a stroke of paralysis. Her age was 76 years, 4 months and 25 days. Mrs. Eilert, whose maiden name was Delia Andrews, was born in Germany, Jan. 4, 1847. When a young child she came with her parents to America. They settled near Alma Center, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Ernest Eilert in 1868. They live in Humbird till 1887, when they moved to Neillsville, where they resided till 1899, moving from here to Fresno, which remained her home until her death. Her husband died 21 years ago last August. She was a woman who was much liked by all who knew her here. She was possessed of all the domestic virtues, devoted to her home and family, and was a kindly considerate neighbor. She leaves one son and four daughters: William Eilert, who lives in Fresno, Mrs. Mary Huntzicker of Fresno, Maggie, Mrs. Kurt Listeman of Neillsville; Louise, Mrs. R. L. Meader of Eau Claire, and Mrs. Leda McKenzie of Fresno. A son Louis, died 16 years ago and two other children died in childhood.

Her remains, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Will Eilert and Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Listeman, arrived here Monday and funeral services were held at the Listeman home, which was formerly the old home of the deceased, Monday afternoon, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating, burial taking place in the family lot in Neillsville cemetery.
