Gostomski, Richard B. (13 May 1934 – 15 March 2022) With Flag

Richard B. Gostomski, 87, of Thorp, passed away at Marshfield Medical Center, in Marshfield, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Richard B. Gostomski was born on May 13, 1934, in Galloway, rural Marathon County, the son of Frank S. and Rose B.(Gliniecki) Gostomski. He was raised in central Wisconsin before his parents settled in Thorp. After graduating from high school in 1952, Rich entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Texas until his honorable discharge. He was united in marriage to Gael A. Nelson on August 12, 1961, at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin. They resided in Owen, and Rich worked for his brothers Larry and Frank. He later worked for the Carpenters Union 1074 as a millwright/carpenter until his retirement. After retiring, Rich built their home in rural Thorp.

He was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church where he served in many capacities for over 35 years.

Rich had many interests but especially enjoyed working on his inventions and woodworking.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Gael, his three children: Roger (Jenny) of Eau Claire, Glenn (Kim) of Loyal, Christine (Peter) Lust of Fall Creek; three granddaughters: Rachel (Craig) Buchholz, Nicole Gostomski, Becca Lust (Brandon Knoellinger); five great-grandchildren: Haylea, Arika, Phoebe, Grant, and Reagan; two sisters: Phyllis (Lenny) Butek of Thorp, Rita Haas of Medford; one brother: John (Mary) Gostomski of Crescent City, FL; three sisters-in-law: Linda Gostomski of Pearland, TX, Betty Gostomski of Arlington, TX, and Shirley Gostomski of Florida; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Arnold, Victor, Frank Jr., Dennis, and Larry Gostomski, and four sisters: Lorraine Graikowski, Rosemary Abramowicz, Harriet Shay, and Edith Staron.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin, WI. Father Marion Talaga will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Shay, Mark Abramowicz, Mike Haas, Ron Borek, David Kulesa, and Jesse Kulesa. Visitation will be held at the church, on Tuesday, from 9:00 am until the time of service.
