Carlson, Gus ( 24? June 1923)
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Holtz received a phone message Sunday night from their daughter, Mrs. Gus Carlson at Duluth that Mr. Carlson had met with a serious accident, one of his legs being cut off. Mrs. Holtz took the early morning train to Duluth and a letter from her Tuesday states that Mr. Carlson met with the accident while switching in the yards of the Minnesota Steel Co., by whom he was employed. He fell between to switch engines and it was only by a seeming miracle that he was not killed. The leg was cut off three inches above the knee. He is doing as well as can be expected.

Crystal, Thanks for the post. There are two(2) Herman Holtz in the Neillsville area, )Likely related. (One in Pine Valley and the other in Dorchester.) However, this is another lead in my family history search and I appreciate it. What a tragic accident. Jane
