Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Kurth received a telephone message Tuesday evening that their son, Ervie, had been drowned in the lake at Menasha that afternoon, a message which shocked the entire community. Ervie had gone to Menasha with a party of Marshfield boys to spend their vacation camping. It seems that Ervie and his companions were swimming in the lake and Ervie had been taken with cramps. He was a short distance from the boat and one of his companions struggled valiantly to save him, but was unable to do so. Ervie sank in deep water and the body was not recovered until two hours later. Mr. Kurth went to Menasha Tuesday night to bring the body home.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at the family residence on North Grand Ave. at 2 o’clock.
Ervie was one of the best like young men in Neillsville. He was a general favorite with everybody for Rest of this article was cut off.
