A LUCKY ESCAPE
Tuesday afternoon as Carl Stange was driving his auto on Grand Avenue, he met another car which suddenly faced him on the wrong side of the street. Mr. Stange’s only course was to get out on the side of the street or get run into, and in doing so struck a hydrant near the J. W. Hommel residence. His car got an axle bent and was otherwise damaged but no one was hurt. Mrs. Stange and her father, Mr. French, were in the car with Mr. Stange at the time and all were quite shaken up, but felt glad at their lucky escape. The offending driver of the other car did not stop, but sped away as fast as he could drive. Mrs. Peter Johnson, farther up the street got a glimpse of the car and saw that it was from Minnesota, but could not get the full number.
