History: World War
II Memorial
Transcriber: Joan Benner
There is a great article on the USA Today website about the trials and tribulations of the World War II Memorial which will be dedicated this Memorial Day in DC. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-04-18-cover-ww2_x.htm
For those of you who served or for those of you who have fathers, uncles, cousins, relatives that served, you can now register these individuals on the WW II Memorial website. The listing will give their name and branch of service as well as who registered them. People who mailed in the entries were given the opportunity to send in pictures. They are linked to the individuals. http://www.wwiimemorial.com/
One line that really caught my attention was "Only 4 million of the 16 million Americans who fought in the war are still alive, and they are dying at a rate of 1,056 a day."
