Skippens, Sarah (25 April 1837 - 14 March 1925)
Mrs. Sarah Skippens was born Sarah Hyde, April 25, 1837; in Meeple, Cambridgeshire, England; she came to the United States in 1854, and settled at Schoolcraft, Michigan. She was there married to Alfred Skippens, on October 10, 185. Mr. Skippens died there Nov. 13, 1913. She is survived by two children, Olive , Mrs. J. L. Kleckner of this city and Charles A. Skippens of Schoolcraft, Michigan; also five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Skippens spent seven years of her widowhood here with her daughter, Mrs. Kleckner. She passed away at 10:30 Saturday forenoon, March 14, 1925. She was a well-loved mother, mother-in-law, and grand-mother, and although her advanced age did not permit her making a wide acquaintance here, there were many who learned to love and respect her. She was a quiet, endearing, educated lady.
Short funeral services were held at the Kleckner home Monday forenoon, Rev. Longenecker officiating. The body was taken to the hold home in Michigan for burial, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Kleckner accompanying the remains, leaving on the 11:30 train Monday forenoon.
