MAR 1855 - 5 JUN 1924) John Farning, one
of the oldest residents of Clark County, died suddenly at his home
in the town of Eaton, Clark County, Wis., last Thursday, June 5,
1924. Deceased was the son of Michael and Anna Markey Farning, and
was born in Vermont March 10, 1855. When a small boy he came to
Wisconsin with his parents. They settled on a farm in north Grant,
now known as the Gault farm. In his younger days he logged and ran
a saw mill, but later cleared and developed a nice farm. He was married
first to Miss Martha, Christie May 31, 1888. One child, namely Mrs.
Louis Barton, was born to this union. His wife died in 1891. Later
he married Miss Mary Luchterhand, and to this union nine children
were born: Robert, Arthur, who died in Waco, Texas, in 1918, John,
Helen, Clarence, Iola, Edward, Frank and Evan, who died in infancy.
The wife died in 1915. Last October Mr. Farning married Mary
Loeffler, who survives him. He leaves also one brother, Wm. Farning
of Neillsville. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at
