O'Brien died at her home in the town of York, Clark County, Wis.,
July 8, 1924. The deceased, whose maiden name was Mary Ann Gavin,
was born in Massachusetts, Dec. 26, 1837. When she was three years
old the family moved to Canada, and there she grew to womanhood. On
July 20, 1864 she was married to Martin O'Brien and they lived in
Canada till the year 1882, when they came to Clark County,
purchasing a farm in the town of York, which has been the family
home ever since. Mrs. O'Brien was a woman of excellent qualities;
she carried cheerfully the duties and burdens of a pioneer home,
looking well tot he needs of her family and ever ready to give a
helping hand when needed in the community. She leaves to
mourn her loss, her aged husband and five children: Martin of
Rockford, Ill., Thomas of Minneapolis, William of Neillsville, Mrs.
John Kelly of Neillsville and Mrs. John Krejci of the town of York,
one child died at the age of three years. She leaves also eight
grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nephews and
nieces. The funeral was
held Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville, Rev. P.
