Dowe, Arthur O. (? - 1924)

In a recent number of the Wis. Presbyterian, the death of Rev. Arthur O. Dowe is reported. Mr. Dowe was killed on a street corner in Oakland, Calif., by the reckless driving of a drunken taxi-cab driver. Some eight years ago Rev. Dowe conducted a series of Evangelistic meeting in the Presbyterian Church here (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.), and will be remembered by many. He was born in Wisconsin; after a wild and dissolute youth he was converted in a city rescue mission in Milwaukee in 1913. For a time he did volunteer work in the church and was ordained a minister in 1916. A few months later he went to the Pacific Coast where his work was remarkable successful. His Wisconsin friends will grieve to learn of his untimely death.
