(1846 - 3 Jan 1925) Emory Gibbs Newell
was born in Willoughby, Ohio, in 1846, the son of William and
Lucinda Warner. When a small child the family moved to Erie Co.,
N.Y. His mother died when deceased was only four years old. The boy
was taken by Daniel and Nancy Newell and raised as their own
son. At the age of
nineteen, he married Adella Stage and to this union were born five
children, Mrya Rover, who died in California in 1913, and the
following surviving children: Daniel of Elgin, Ill., Jessie M.
Warner of Neillsville, Mrs. Carolyn Girard of Kenosha, Wis., and
Mrs. Zada Warren of Neillsville. His faithful wife passed on in
March 1924. While in poor
health for over a year, Mr. Newell was able to be about most of the
time, and was confined to his bed for less than a week. He died at
2:45 p.m. Jan. 3, 1925 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Zada
Warren. Mr. Newell was a
man of kindly, genial disposition, who loved home life, and took
great interest in farm work and the care of domestic animals, and
had a wholesome liking for the out of doors. The funeral was
held at the Warren home on Monday afternoon, Rev. G. W. Longenecker
