(1864 - 30 Jan 1925) Mrs. Augusta Poppe
died at the Marshfield Hospital about noon Friday, Jan. 30, 1925,
after an operation. Mrs. Poppe, whose
maiden name was Augusta Kuenkel, was born in Germany in 1864. She
came with her family to the United States in 1888. In 1890 she was
married in Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. to Ernest Poppe. They
immediately moved to their farm in the town of Weston, which was
their home until Mr. Poppe's death, which occurred about 10 years
ago. She moved to Neillsville and lived here to the close of her
life. Mrs. Poppe was a woman who had the love and respect of all
who knew her. She had no
children, and leaves only a brother, Wm. Kuenkel of the town of
Hendren and a sister, Mrs. Fuchtner of the town of Seif. The
funeral was held Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rev. H.
Brandt officiating. Burial took place in the Bahr Cemetery in the
