Erickson, Nellie (24 February 1890 - 19 August 1983)
COLBY -- Nellie Erickson, 93, of Richland Center, Formerly of Colby, died Friday
evening at Schmit-Woodland Hills Nursing Home, Richland Center.
Services will be Monday at Rux Funeral Home, Colby. Burial will be in Colby
Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Barnes of Colby United Methodist Church and
the Rev. Raymond Flemming of Marshfield will officiate.
Nellie Crossgrove was born February 24, 1890 at Brookland (Brooklyn?) and
received her education at Belleville High School and the County Normal School,
Monroe. She taught for 18 years in country schools.
She married Arvid Erickson May 20, 1930 in the Little Brown Church, Nashville,
Iowa. After their marriage, they farmed in the Town of Brighton until (his
death) 1945. She then went to Chokio, Minnesota to do domestic work and then
moved to Belleville to do domestic work. Afterward she retired and entered the
nursing home in 1968.
She was affiliated with the Methodist Church in Unity and the Methodist Church
at Richland Center. She also was a member of the Unity church's Ladies Aid and
was president of that Aid for a number of years.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; one sister and two brothers.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Ringquist, Rue Bernett, Marvin Carlson, Rod Cook, Jack
Nelson and Charles Drews. Providing music at the service will be Jan Calley and
Marsha Arnold.
