Foster, Mary Elizabeth ( 17 Oct. 1839 - 4 Dec. 1925)

Mrs. Mary E. Foster died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. E. Holt of the town of Weston on Friday Dec. 4, at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 16 days, death being due to heart trouble.

Mary Elizabeth Cross was born in Ohio Oct. 17, 1839, daughter of Abel and Anna Cross. She moved with her parents to Stone Bank, Waukesha Co., Wis., in 1841, making the trip with an ox team.

Here she grew to womanhood and on Oct. 22, 1856 was united in marriage to William J. Foster.

To this union eight children were born, three of whom preceded her in death, Mrs. Hattie Fulmer, Mrs. A. Holt and Eddie Foster.

She is survived by five children, Mrs. Carrie Holt of Greenwood, Mrs. Ella Fulmer of Athens, Wis., Mrs. A. Munger of Milwaukee and William of Stone Bank. Two sisters, Mrs. Fanny Carter of Machinaw City, Mich., and Mrs. Lyllia Pearson of Ottowa, Kansas. One brother, Luke Cross of Aloma Michigan.

There are nineteen grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church for a number of years and was loved by all who knew her.

The remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband in the cemetery at Stone Bank where the deceased passed most of her life.
