Brown, Joseph (17 AUG 1852 - 1 Jan 1927)

Joseph Brown, who had been very low for about two weeks from a stroke of paralysis, passed away Jan. 1, 1927, at his home in this city (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.). Mr. Brown was born in Milwaukee, Aug. 17, 1852. Later he came with his parents to Stevens Point, where they lived until the year 1861. They then moved to the town of Grant in Clark County. There deceased grew to manhood and made his home until about six months ago, when he and his wife moved to the city. He followed farming and the usual work of the pioneer in lumber camps, and developed a good farm.

He was married in the town of Grant to Mrs. Rhoda Lange, Jan. 25, 1888. She survives him with their three daughters and one son: Mrs. Wm. Kuhlman of Fergus Falls, Minn.; Mrs. Edward Boultman of Faribault, Minn.; Mrs. Reuben King of the town of Grant and the son, Milo Edward Brown on the home farm in the town of Grant; also a step-daughter, Mrs. R. H. Grossman, who resides at Fergus Falls. He leaves also one brother, Peter Brown of Neillsville, and one sister, Mrs. Joseph Buss of the town of Grant.

Mr. Brown, who was known as "Joe" to a host of friends, was a man of pleasant and cheerful disposition, meeting everyone with a happy greeting. He was a worthy citizen and a good neighbor and will be greatly missed among his friends.

The funeral will be held this Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Presbyterian Church, Rev. Rawson officiating.
