Wetzel, Carl F. (3 APR 1853 - 23 Feb 1927)

Carl Frederick Henry Wetzel was born April 3rd, 1853 in Pommern, Germany. His age was 73 years, 10 months and 20 days.

He was married to Augusta Retz in 1882 and came to this country in 1893, settling in the town of Pine Valley, Clark County, Wis. His wife preceded him in death in 1920. Nine children were born to them, 2 dying in infancy. He leaves to mourn his death Mrs. Fred Nemitz of Neillsville; Otto Wetzel of the town of Hewett; Mrs. Arnold Halling and Gustave Wetzel of Glendive, Mont.; Emil and Willie Wetzel and Mrs. George Meihack at home. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted in St. John's Lutheran Church, Rev. Brandt officiating.

Mr. Wetzel was a kindly and industrious man, and lived a life which endeared him in the hearts of all who knew him and became his friends. For several months he had been ailing and in poor health, and a short time before his death he was stricken with a stroke of paralysis, which caused his death.
