Dankemyer, Grandma (20 JUN 1845 - 15 Apr 1927)

Grandma Dankemyer died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, Friday, April 15, 1927. She lived many years in this vicinity (Clark County, Wis.), she and her husband, Christian Dankemyer having been some of the early pioneers in this section. Since the death of her husband, who preceded her by quite a few years, she has made her home with her son, Fred. Although not being in good health for some time, she was not confined to her bed until on Monday, when she was stricken with a contagious erysipelas. She was removed to the hospital where she passed away on Friday. Had she lived until June 20, she would have attained the age of 82 years.

She leaves an only child, her son Fred of Marshfield, and several step-children, to mourn her death.

Grandma Dankemyer was a very kind neighbor and much respected and loved by all who knew her.

Her disease was of such a nature that a public funeral was considered not advisable and the remains were laid to rest in the Yolo Cemetery beside that of her husband. Rev. Henzel of Immanuel's Lutheran Church of Marshfield conducted the services at the Cemetery.
