The Lloyd Heights Manor in Neillsville, the house was built in 1895 by local carpenter and wagon builder, George Trogner for lumber baron George Lloyd and has been a local landmark ever since. A recent addition to this distinguished property has created even more interest.

The property now houses a new eight-sided barn, built by Eli Miller of Granton. The design of the barn inspired by eight-sided barns built in the early 19th century in the eastern portion of the state.

“We are very happy with the results. My husband really wanted this and it’s been nice. People have been showing interest along every stage of the building,” said Maggie Gelhaus, who owns the property along with her husband Rolly.

The barn can be seen from the road and has been capturing the attention of everyone in the area.

“Everyone is so interested in it; we are getting lot of inquiries about it, and we are really happy people are so interested,” she went on to say.

Gelhaus even offered up the property for use during Heritage Days. She hopes to one day open a petting zoo on the property, which currently houses an array of farm animals, including Scottish highland cows, among others.

People are welcome to visit the barn. Gelhaus encourages anyone interested in visiting the barn to call ahead at 443-538-6355 to ensure someone will be there. You are welcome to take your chances and stop by; however, Gelhaus is asking that if there is nobody present that visitors do not enter the barn.

Lloyd Heights Manor is at 1209 Lloyd St., Neillsville.
