John Legare Apfel was born in Rock Co., WI, June 7, 1868. In 1893, he married Esther Wright. She was born Feb. 3, 1872 in Footville, WI. They were farmers in Levis Township, Clark Co., WI. In later years, having sold their farm, they resided on Hewett Street in Neillsville, WI, where John died May 9, 1950 and was buried in the city cemetery there. Esther was laid beside him after her passing May 8, 1960.
