Eugene "Geno" Blumenstein, 62, died Oh Thursday, April 8, 2004, at his residence in Owen, under Home Hospice Care, fighting a battle with cancer since diagnosed in 2002.

Funeral services for Eugene were on Sunday evening, April 11, 2004, at the Maurina Funeral Horne in Owen, at 7:30 p.m. Reverend Tom Gonzalez officiated with Kay Miller as eulogist.

Visitation with family ahd friends was at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen on Sunday, April 11, 2004, from 4:00 p.m. until service time at 7:30 p.m.

Eugene Gerald Blumenstein was born on June 28, 1941, in Medford, the son of William and Freida (Pechstein) Blumenstein. Eugene and the former Barbara Jean Kell were united in marriage on May 13, 1961.

Eugene was employed at the Owen Dairy in 1961 and later worked for Wausau Iron Works. In 1974, he started a scraping business at his home in Owen, and later developed it into a very successful steel company, Blumenstein Steel, Inc., of Withee. He sold his business and retired in 1999.

He enjoyed having early a.m. coffee with his many friends, fishing, camping, golfing, antiques, old cars and visiting the casinos.

Eugene will be dearly missed by his wife Barbara of Owen, 5 children: Sheila (Mike) Zaborowski of Eau Claire; Mark (Malissa) Blumenstein of Owen; Shelly (Joel) Johnson of Owen; Sherri (Trent) King of Withee; Brandon (Raquel) Blumenstein of Superior; two brothers: Wayne (Betty) Blumenstein of Westboro; Marvin (Sylvia) Blumenstein of Rib Lake: four sisters, Dorothy Franz of Medford; Flora "Babe" (Spud) Aselson of Medford; Donna Mohr of Rib Lake; Janet (George) Smola of Goodrich; 11 grandchildren: Joshua; Britny; Amber; Cody; Jesica; Sierra; Austin; Alyssa; Dylan; Kyle and Auston; one great-gandchild, Alden Johnson; and other relatives ahd many Friends.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Hartley and Harold; two sisters: Evey and Darlene, infant granddaughter Alexis Kylie King.

Maurina Funeral Horne assisted the family with arrangements.
