Edward S. Koltis
Edward S. Koltis, age 91, Owen, fonnerly of Thorp, died on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at the Clark County Health Care Center where he has been a resident since October of 2001.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard-Hedwig's Catholic Church with Father John Puerner officiating. Burial followed in Old St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Koltis, Scott Koltis, Ken Koltis, Pat Frinack, Dan Bogue and Dan Hull.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 9, 2004 at the Thorp Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. and there was a 7:30 p.m. rosary service. There was also visitation prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Edward Stanley Koltis was born on February 7, 1913 in Coatesville, Penn., the son of Anton and Josephine (Kosnowicz) Koltis. He attended the Jackson School in the Town of Warden and then went to North Dakota and worked during harvest time and also did some logging in the Thorp area. Edward and Sophie Wilczek were united in marriage on September 17, 1938 at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Following their marriage, Edward and Sophie farmed in the Town of Reseburg for 25 years. When he retired from farming, he worked for Thorp Lumber. Edward was an active member of St. Bemard-Hedwig's Catholic Church.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years: Sophie Koltis of Thorp and his son: Edward A. (Diane) Koltis of Thorp, two grandchildren: Ann (John) Stroinski of Thorp and Sandra (Dan) Gronwoldt of Riceville, Iowa and three great-grandchildren, Dale and Jeffrey Stroinski and Andrea Gronwoldt. Edward is further survived by his siblings: Walter (Daisy) Koltis of Thorp, Leocadia (Jack) Bogue of Illinois, Adelia (August) Abramczak of Illinois, Adolph (Pat) Koltis of Thorp, Harriet (Frank) Smiderski of Illinois, Helen (Charles) Frinack of Thorp, Joe (Karen) Koltis of Thorp, Jerry (Dolores) Koltis of Illinois and Sister Katheleen Koltis of Stevens Point, Wisconsin and two sisters-in-law: Katheleen Koltis of California and Elizabeth Koltis of Illinois.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Genevieve Lewerenz, Benedict Koltis, Frank Koltis and Thadeaus Koltis.
Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
