MAY 1842 - 9 OCT 1927) Carl Lipke, an old
resident of the town of Levis, Clark County, Wis., passed away at
his home Sunday morning, Oct. 9th, 1927, after suffering from a
stroke. Mr. Lipke was a
strong healthy man until a week before his death. Carl Lipke was
born at Brandenburg, Germany, May 12, 1842. When 25 years of age,
he was married to Anna Goebel. In 1880 Mr. Lipke left for America,
stopping at Green Bay. Two years later Mrs. Lipke joined him there.
In 1882 they went to Hatfield, Wis., where Mr. Lipke worked on the
section. Later they settled on a farm in Levis. There both Mr. and
Mrs. Lipke stood many hardships. Mrs. Lipke preceded him in death
seven years ago. Since then Mr. Lipke and his youngest son Max
stayed on the place alone. Six children were
born to Mr. and Mrs. Lipke: Emma, Mrs. Robert Bruss; Lena, Mrs.
Alfred Schnabel, and Max at home. Two children died in infancy. He
also leaves 14 grandchildren. The funeral was
held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Henry Lipke,
