H. (5 Feb 1860 - 30 Jan 1928) William H.
Johnson, whose death was mentioned in last week's Press, was born
in London, England, Feb. 5, 1860, and died in Chicago Jan. 30,
1928, aged nearly 68 years. Mr. Johnson came
to this country about 45 years ago and settled at La Salle, Ill. On
Nov. 24, 1891, he was married at la Salle to Mrs. Frances Polaski.
The came to Clark County, Wis. about 35 years ago and purchased a
farm south of Neillsville. Mr. Johnson was a butcher by trade and
worked in Neillsville much of the time, also helping to carry on
the farm. In later years his health failed and he had to retire
from active work and spent much of his time in Chicago with his
children, dying at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Lenz.
Besides his daughter he leaves one son, W. B. Johnson, and two
step-children, Joseph Hartwig Johnson and Lena Hartwig. He also
leaves 11 grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was very skillful at his
trade, honest and industrious and a man of most excellent
principles in every way. The funeral was
held at Lowe's Funeral Home Thursday afternoon, Rev. H. Brandt
officiating. Those from away
who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Johnson, Joseph
Johnson, Lena Hartwig, Mr. and Mrs. Lenz and three children, Mrs.
