NEILLSVILLE PRESS (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 04/12/1928 Hitchcock, Thomas
(7 Jul 1848 - 8 Apr 1928) Thomas Hitchcock
passed away at his home in Alma Center, Wis. April 8, 1928, after
many months of failing health. He was born in Devonshire, England,
July 7, 1948, son of Mary and James Hitchcock, coming to America
with his parents in 1855 and locating in Waupaca, Co., Wis. In 1868 he
purchased a farm in Clark County, which has been his home for many
years. He was married on
Jan. 18, 1882, to Miss Alice Sichler of Alma Center. In 1908 they
disposed of their farm home near Neillsville and moved to Alma
Center, which has been their home ever since. Mrs. Hitchcock passed
away less than two months before her husband and he was laid beside
her in the Catholic Cemetery in this village. He leaves only one
sister living, Mrs. Sarah Winters of Neillsville; two nephews,
Arthur and Jesse Wilding, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Harold Irish.
The two latter have been in constant attendance to Mr. Hitchcock
since the death of his wife. The funeral was
held Tuesday, April 10, at the M. E. Church in Alma Center, Rev. G.
W. Longenecker of Neillsville conducting the services. The death of Mr.
and Mrs. Hitchcock has removed from our community two of our most
loved and highly respected citizens and they will be sadly missed
by a host of friends and neighbors. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
