Steinfeldt, John ( 24 March 1844 - 30 Jan. 1926)
John Steinfeldt, civil war veteran, died at his home in Dallas, Jan. 30, following an illness of about two months. Mr. Steinfeldt was bon at Micklenberg, Germany March 24, 1844, and would have been 82 years old this March.
Mr. Steinfeldt as a volunteer in Co. B., 27th Wisconsin Infantry, serving from 1862 until the close of the war. He participated in the Red River expedition and the battle of Little Rock, Jenkins Ferry, Prairie Duane, Vicksburg and the siege of Mobile.
Returning to Wisconsin at the close of war Mr. Steinfeldt engaged in farming in the town of York, Clark County. He was married Dec. 23, 1869. He retired about 23 years ago and came West, establishing his home in Dallas where he has since resided.
Mr. Steinfeldt is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Ebbe and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday of last week with interment in the Dallas I. O. O. F. cemetery.
