BREAKS NECK WHILE DIVING
Carl Lawrenz and daughters, Misses Erna and Bertha, and son Will, and Mr. Fred Kluhsman are at Appleton in response to a telegram received here at three o’clock Monday afternoon informing the family that their son, Arthur, aged 21 while swimming at Appleton, where he was employed, had partially broken his neck. An operation was performed upon the patient yesterday and word as to his condition was expected upon the return of relatives this afternoon.
The accident occurred when he struck bottom in shallow water after leaping off a pier into Lake Winnebago.
Examination showed that the fourth and fifth cervical of Lawrenz’s spinal column were broken and ----- rest cut off. --
