Miss Karen Sue Ryba, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Ryba of Route 2, Curtiss,
was given in marriage by her father September 17 to Duane Allen Churkey, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Churkey of Route 1, Withee.
The Rev. Lloyd F. Geissler performed the ceremony in Holy Rosary Catholic
Church, Owen. Mrs. Pat Koplitz was organist; Ramona and Roger Koplitz were
soloists.
The bride had a lace and organza gown with cathedral train and a matching veil
attached to a crown. In her cascade bouquet were white roses, stephanotis,
baby's breath and pink alstromeria with ivy.
Mrs. Renee Hanson of Medford was matron of honor with Miss Donnelle Suda of
Greenwood, Miss Darlene Reyzer, Abbotsford, and Mrs. Sheila Christophersen,
Owen, bridesmaids. They had knit empire gowns with lace capelets, colonial
bouquets of white spider chrysanthemums, stephanotis, baby's breath and
alstromeria with fern. Matching flowers were worn in their hair.
Rick Hanson of Medford was best man. Groomsmen were Mark Christophersen of Owen,
Bryan Kell of Withee and Todd Purgett, Abbotsford, and ushering were Greg Ryba,
Owen and Kenneth Churkey, Brownsville, Texas.
The reception, dinner and dance were at Holy Family Hall, Stanley. After a
honeymoon in northwestern Wisconsin, the Churkeys will live in Curtiss.
The bride, a 1981 graduate of Owen-Withee High School and a 1983 graduate of
North Central Technical Institute-Wausau, where she received an associate degree
in insurance, is a statistical processor for Wausau Insurance Co., Wausau. Her
husband is a 1980 graduate of Owen-Withee High School.
