Meinke, Esther (12 March 1900 - 18 May 1983)Mrs. Esther A. Meinke, 83, Route 1,
Unity, died in a Colby nursing home Wednesday.
The former Esther Werth was born March 12, 1900 in the town of McMillan,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Werth. She married Frank Hass on April 2, 1919.
He died in October of 1930. She married Carl Meinke October 10, 1931. He died in
June of 1962.
Mrs. Meinke farmed in the town of Hull. She moved to the nursing home this year.
She was a member of the Ladies Aid of Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, and the
American legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Roland Hass, West Bend, Frank Hass, La Crosse, and
Norman Meinke, Route 1, Unity; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Ella) Rapp,
Marshfield, and Mrs. John (Gertrude) Alexander, Medford; a stepdaughter, Mrs.
Erna Smith, Cudahy; a stepson, Elmer Meinke; a sister, Mrs. Ella Weber, Spencer;
16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. The Rev. Robin Fink
will officiate. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery and visitation will be
at the Rux Funeral Home, Colby.
