Schutte, John (2 MAR 1863 - 22 JUN 1928)
John Schutte passed away at his home in North Pine Valley, Clark County, Wis., Friday, June 22, 1928, aged 65 years, 3 months and 20 days. His health had been poor for two years and he had suffered a great deal, especially the last few weeks of his life.
Mr. Schutte was born in Hamburg, Germany, March 2, 1863, and came to this country when 21 years of age. He went to South Dakota and took a claim which he later sold and came to Clark County, buying land in Pine Valley, which he developed into a good farm. On Sept. 25, 1898 he was married to Miss Dorothy Boll in Neillsville and they immediately began housekeeping at his farm home. Eight children were born to them, one of whom died in infancy. Those surviving are Dorothy, Mrs. Wm. Christianson of Prairie du Chien; John at home; Martin at home; Senta, Mrs. Elmer Christian of Pine Valley; Alvin, Henry and Robert, boys at home; there are also seven grandchildren and a brother and sister in Germany.
Mr. Schutte was an honest, industrious man who lived a decent and honorable life. He was a good husband, kind father and accommodating neighbor.
The funeral was held Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rev. H. Brandt officiating.
Those from away who came to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Mooney of Kaukauna, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Oldham and child from Neenah-Menasha.
