(16 NOV 1845 - 28 OCT 1928) Gottlieb Riedel
passed away at his home in the town of Grant, Clark County, Wis.,
Oct. 28, 1928, having attained the age of nearly 83 years. He was
born at Breslau, Schlesien, Germany, Nov. 16, 1845. He came to
America and settled in Milwaukee in 1868, remaining there until
1871, when he moved to the town of Grant. He was married the same
year to Miss Helena Gluch of the town of Grant and they settled on
land about 8 1/2 miles southeast of the village of Granton, which
they developed into a fine farm, and which remained his home until
his death. Mr. Riedel was an
industrious, upright man and by his work did his share in the
development of his home and the community. Mr. Riedel is
survived by his wife and four children: Amelia, Mrs. Herman Krause
of the town of Grant; Herman Riedel on the home farm; Miss Augusta
Riedel, Owen; Emil Riedel, town of Grant. Four children died in
early childhood. He leaves also 16 grandchildren. The funeral was
held Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 31, at Zion Lutheran Church, town of
Grant, Rev. Buth officiating. Burial took place in the church
