NEILLSVILLE PRESS (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 02/21/1929 Houston, James W.
(1846? - Feb 1929) Mrs. W. J. Marsh
is in receipt of a later from her sister, Mrs. Sibyl Clark at Los
Angeles, telling of the death of James W. Houston, formerly of
Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.. Mr. Houston died about two weeks
ago as the result of injuries by an automobile. It seems that he
was rendered unconscious by the accident, and none of his
acquaintances being with him, he could not be identified and was
taken to the hospital, where he was found by his relatives a couple
of days later. He lived for four days after the injuries were
received. Mr. Houston was 82
years of age. He was one of the prominent men of Neillsville during
his residence here, being foreman for F. D. Lindsey in his logging
operations. He served one term as Sheriff of Clark County and later
resumed logging operation for Mr. Lindsey. He was married to
Miss Sophronia Walker just 50 years ago. Several years later they
moved to Fifield, then to Milwaukee, and in 1906 they went west.
They had three children, one son and two daughters. Mrs. Houston is
still living. The body of Mr.
Houston was cremated and the remains will be sent back to
Neillsville for burial. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
