(1849? - 8 Mar 1929) Andrew Bidwell,
one of the early settlers of the town of Washburn, Clark County,
Wis., died at the Soldiers' Home in Milwaukee, on March 8, 1929. He
had reached the age of 80 years. He came to the town of Washburn in
early days and lived for some time with Peter Cramer. In 1874 he
bought a farm in that town. In 1914 he sold his farm and lived for
6 or 7 years at the home of T. M. Winters. His wife died in 1911.
After living at the Winter's home he went to live for some time
with his step-children, and then went to the Soldiers' Home in
Milwaukee. Although he was entitled to a pension, he refused to
make application for it until a short time before his death. He leaves two
step-sons, James Searles and John Searles of Wonewoc, and one
step-daughter, Mrs. Kintzele of Mauston. He has one brother in
Milwaukee. Mr. Bidwell came
