NEILLSVILLE PRESS (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 06/13/1929 Lee, Harriet (27
JUL 1859 - 7 JUN 1929) Mrs. Harriet Lee
died at her home in this city (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.),
Friday, June 7, 1929, in the seventieth year of her age. Her death
was due to apoplexy. Mrs. Lee, whose
maiden name was Harriet W. Bush, was born at Homesdale, Pa., July
27, 1859. Her parents died when she was a little girl and she went
to live with an uncle, with whom she remained until she sixteen
years old, when she came west to live with another uncle, George
Hubbell, who then lived in Greenwood, Clark County. She also lived
at the F. D. Lindsay home, Mrs. Lindsay being a cousin. There she
was married to Alfred Lee of Neillsville on Sept. 15, 1883. They
lived in Neillsville for a time, then at Tower, Minn., and then at
Fifield, Wis., where Mr. Lee died., Aug. 19, 1898. Soon after Mrs.
Lee and the children moved back to Neillsville, and this has been
her home ever since. Mrs. Lee was a
lady of the finest qualities of mind and heart, gentle and
ladylike, helpful and considerate to all about her, she bravely
faced the work and cares of life uncomplainingly. She had a firm
religious faith that seemed to uphold her in her tasks and
responsibilities. She was a member of the Congregational Church and
for many years was one of its most faithful workers. She leaves three
children: Bessie, Mrs. L. C. Woodward of Neillsville; Miss Hazel
Lee, who lived here with her mother and Robert Lee of Minneapolis.
She leaves also one grandson, Francis Woodward of Chicago. The funeral was
held at the L. C. Woodward home Monday afternoon, Rev. G. W.
Longenecker officiating. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
