Clair E. Maurer, 83, Spencer, died on Sunday, June 23, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, from 9:30 a.m. until an 11 a.m. funeral service at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Rich Brown, pastor of the Free Methodist Church, Loyal, will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Marshfield.
Clair E. Fenhouse was born on Dec. 12, 1918, in Spencer, to Henry and Francis [nee McVean] Fenhouse. She attended Spencer schools. She married John E. Maurer. She was the owner and manager of the Redwood Supper Club, Unity, and later the Village Plaza, Spencer. The couple relocated to McAllen, Texas, for four years and managed a motel. After their retirement, they returned to Spencer. Her interests included traveling and playing cards. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John, Spencer; three sons, James [Diane] Maurer, Spencer, Donald Maurer, Marshfield, and Kim [Dawn] Maurer, Neenah; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Merlin [Mable] Fenhouse, Superior, and Lee [Sue] Fenhouse, Stratford; and one sister, Isabelle Murphy, West Bend.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home, Marshfield, assisted the family with arrangements.
