Veronica A. Fleischman, 88, Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Spencer, died on Monday, July 8, 2002, at Family Heritage Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wisconsin Rapids. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 12, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Spencer. The Rev. Charles Stoetzel officiated. Burial was in the West Spencer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob Fleischman, Mike Fleischman, Scott Fleischman, Bryon Krause, Glenn Rudie and Nick Meacham.
Veronica Agnes Zinthefer was born on Feb. 28, 1914, in Bakerville, to Charles and Mary [nee Pankratz] Zinthefer. She married Frank H. Fleischman on Nov. 17, 1936, at Bakerville. They farmed in the town of Richfield for several years and then moved to a farm in the town of Brighton. They moved to the town of Spencer in 1963. Her husband died on Feb. 9, 1965. She moved to the Parkview Apartments, Marshfield, in 1999, and then to Family Heritage Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wisconsin Rapids, in Feb. 2000. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and its Christian Mothres’ Society. She donated much of her time at St. Vincent De Paul, Marshfield, and the Colby Nursing Home. Her interests included knitting, crocheting and reading.
Survivors include seven children, Rita [Cliff] Rudie, Auburndale, Harold [Marion] Fleischman, Loyal, Walter [Virginia] Fleischman, Blair, Annette Fleischman, Columbus, Ohio, Donald [Betty] Fleischman, Marshfield, Mary [James] Krause, Wisconsin Rapids, and Doris [Lee] Meacham, Wisconsin Rapids; 33 grandchildren; 37 great-granchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Frank; five sisters, Catherine Nikolai, Anna Hoffman, Mary Hagar, Frances Fischer and Rose Goldbach; and five brothers, William Zinthfer, George Zinthfer, Andrew Zinthfer, Joseph Zinthfer and Frank Zinthfer.
Community Funeral Home, Spencer, assisted the family with arrangements.
