(10 Augl 1845 - 22 Mar 1923) Alexander Andrews
died at his home in this village (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) on
Thursday evening, March 22, 1923. Mr. Andrews was born in
Sumersetshire, England, on Aug. 10, 1845 and came to this country
with his parents when three years of age. The family landed at
Plymouth, Wis., where deceased resided until reaching manhood. When
the war broke out he enlisted in Co. I 30th Wis. Regiment and
served his adopted country to the end. In 1879 he was united in
marriage with Miss Anna Hertel and a few years later moved to
Thorp, which has since been his home. He leaves to mourn, his
faithful wife and the following children: Alfred Andrews of St.
Marie, Idaho, Robert Andrews, Wheeler, Wis., Mrs. H. K. Lake,
Crosby, Minn., Mrs. P. W. Smith, Milwaukee and Elias, Edgar,
Leonard, Dewey, Mrs. T. Gulcznski, Agnes and Ray of Thorp, also one
aged brother, England Fay Andrews of Wheeler, Wis. The funeral
services took place on Tuesday from the residence, in charge of the
American Legion, Rev. F. G. Elwick, pastor of the local Community
Church delivered the memorial sermon and music provided by the
choir. The burial took place in the Riverside Cemetery near
