Wells, Kathryn Ida (23 July 1924 – 30 April 2022)
Kathryn I. Wells, 97, of Greenwood, passed away at Wells Nature View in
Marshfield, on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
Kathryn Ida Sonderegger was born on July 23, 1924, in Greenwood, the daughter of
Jacob and Martha (Beerli) Sonderegger. She was raised on the family farm and
received her education in Greenwood Public Schools, graduating from Greenwood
High School in 1942. Kathryn was united in marriage to Donald A. Wells on August
12, 1942, in St. Croix Falls, WI. They resided in Greenwood. She worked for
Black River Campers and Greenwood Campers sewing curtains. Kathryn also had a
ceramic shop where she taught classes from 1972 to 1989. For 25 years she was
the bookkeeper for her husband's business, Wells Amoco Oil Company, until
retiring in March 1991. She had many interests, but especially enjoyed bird
watching, crafts, ceramics, and sewing.
Kathryn is survived by her children: Michael Wells (Mickey Oestreich) of
Marshfield, Marcia Horn of Loyal; seven grandchildren and numerous great and
great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, on July 23, 2009;
her daughter-in-law, Judy Wells; her son-in-law, William Horn; and her sister,
Martha Sonderegger.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022, at Missionary
Baptist Church in Greenwood. Pastor Geoff Smith will officiate, and burial will
follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Horn, Jim
Wells, Ron Wells, Gerald Immerfall, Jim Seefluth, Brian Gust, and Tyler Horn.
Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, from 10 a.m. until time of
service.
Kathryn's family would like to thank the staff at Wells Nature View and St.
Croix Hospice for their loving care and compassion given to her during the time
she spent with them.
In lieu of flowers, Kathryn requested that donations be made to the Salvation
Army or your favorite charity.
