He followed the trade of a carpenter at Marshfield for several years and in 1890 came to Thorp and engaged in the furniture and undertaking business, which he carried on for twenty-three years, after which he became a stockholder in the Gilman Mfg. Co. at Gilman, selling his interests thereabout a year ago. On Oct. 23, 1890 he was united in marriage with Miss Pauline Voelker, who survives him.
Deceased was an industrious straightforward and thoroughgoing businessman and his sudden death was a shock to a large circle of friends.
Besides his widow he leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary Miller of Neillsville, two brothers, Mat Wiltgen of Superior and John Wiltgen of Montana. Funeral services took place from St. Bernard's Church Friday morning at ten o'clock, Rev. Fr. Neises officiating, he being assisted by Rev. Fr. Goerres, Edson, and Rev. Fr. Kaiser, Stanley. Interment took place in the St. Bernard's Cemetery.

This message was extremely helpful. I am related to this Michael Wiltgen. He was a brother to John B. Wiltgen who is my great-grandfather. If anyone has more information on Michael and his parents I would be extremely interested.
